The UN envoy for Libya has warned the Security Council that the country is on the brink of civil war. The country remains deeply divided since Gaddafi was toppled in 2011. The recent surge in violence is due to General Khalifa Haftar, who controls the East of the country, launching an offensive to take control of the capital Tripoli.
